It's this screen where the covers are stretched. Resizing the viewer will resize the image keeping the aspect ratio (though I had to scroll of the page and back for this to happen).Īlso, the issue I'm having isn't with the image when viewing the ePub itself, but rather with the smaller cover image used in the "collage" of covers on the home screen (the main screen on the Kobo that to return to when you hit the home button). It will be size to fill either the vertical or horizontal space depending on the size of the viewer. The cover will be displayed with the correct aspect ratio. Then try a version with "Keep aspect ratio" checked. When you resize the viewer, the cover will be stretched to fill whatever size the viewer is. To see what I mean, open the version you sent me with the calibre viewer. I did the converstion myself to check all this. That is what is needed to prevent the cover image being stretched out of shape.

With that option checked, the cover page is generated with preserveAspectRatio="xMidYMid meet". I only sent you one of the test conversions. The covers are stretched to the sizes, but if you have 600*800 covers already, they will be OK.Īre you referring to the checkbox on the conversion settings to "keep aspect ratio"? I've tried with that option checked, and with it unchecked, and I get the same results. It uses the cover in the library to do this.
CALIBREBOOK ART DRIVER
With these options, the driver generates the covers at the appropriate sizes and copies them to the device. Having said that, have you looked at the configuration for the Kobo Touch driver in calibre? You need to set two options: "Upload covers for books" and "Always upload covers". Can you post an epub after the conversion for me to look at? If you can create one with just the cover page, that should bypass any copyright considerations. If the above doesn't work, I am curious about what is happening. If your reading settings have margins, then they will be used on the first page and the covers. Once the epub is on the device, what does the first page look like? This is what will be used as the cover. With that, you should be able to cut back to just the conversion in calibre. What output profile are you using in calibre? As you are creating correctly sized images for your cover use "Tablet" or something that doesn't resize the covers. I could live with this, but even getting this far is way too much work just to get the cover to display properly sometimes.ĭoes anyone know a better way of doing this? Is it possible to even get a cover that displays properly on both the sleep/off screen AND Home Screen?

the image is vertically stretched) when book covers are displayed on the Home Screen.
CALIBREBOOK ART WINDOWS 7
load of a virtual instance of Windows 7 (I'm on a Mac) and run the ePub through ePubFixerīut, I'm still getting incorrect aspect ratios (ie. start with a custom cover 600px x 800px I have gone through the many threads in these forums as well as numerous Google searches and the best I can come up with is: cover artwork proper aspect ration when on Home Screen (which seems different than the aspect ratio when the device sleeps/off) cover artwork fills screen proper aspect ratio when device sleeps/off Does anyone know if it's possible, using Calibre, to properly send cover artwork to the Kobo Touch?
